Debuted in 1997, NANTA is most well-attended show in Korean performance history. Combining Korean traditional elements like garak (rhythms) of samullori (traditional Korean percussion music) with a hilarious plotline, it’s no wonder Nanta continues to be a fan favorite, drawing over 700,000 international viewers each year. The performance’s five main characters (a manager, head chef, a female chef, the ‘sexy guy,’ and the manager’s nephew) beat out intricate rhythms on makeshift instruments like pots and pans as they frantically try to prepare for a luxurious wedding banquet. An enchanting performance that’s been performed on Broadway and across the globe, ‘Nanta’ is a show not to be missed. A few lucky audience members even have the chance to come up on stage to play a small but important part in this production’s impressive history.
