North West Seoul

Northwest Seoul is probably the second most popular area for tourists to visit in the city after central Seoul – and for good reason. This buzzing, vibrant and youthful part of the city is home to a large number of universities and arty districts, as well as great shopping, restaurants and nightlife. Expect busy streets, young ultra trendy students on every corner and plenty of things to see and do. As well as experiencing the hustle and bustle, you can also escape to one of the area’s parks or take in a museum or two.
Seodaemun-gu (서대문구) is home to major busy areas such as Sinchon; shopping hubs such as the area surrounding Ewha Women’s University; and well-known attractions such as the Seodaemun Prison History Hall.
Eunpyeong-gu (은평구) is the most northernmost of these three districts, and although not home to many major attractions, is worth an exploration if you are in Seoul for an extended period of time.
Mapo-gu (마포구) borders the northern banks of the Han River and is home to the famous Hongdae area of Seoul – one of the best nightlife districts in the city, surrounding Hongkik University. It is also home to the huge World Cup Park.
